China's 21-ton rocket travels 28,000 km/h, is out of control and may fall to Earth in the next few days

Long March 5B was launched by China on April 28. However, Long March 5B (Long March 5B) began to fly freely around the Earth and lost control instead of falling into the sea as calculated. According to predictions, this rocket can fall to Earth at any time in the next few days.

"By current standards, it's unacceptable for a rocket to fall to Earth uncontrollably," said Jonathan McDowell, an astronomer who tracks objects orbiting the Earth. He also added that no object weighing more than 10 tons has been free to leave orbit and fall uncontrollably since 1990.

Truong Chinh 5B is about 30m long and about 5m wide. Rockets can burn up in Earth's atmosphere upon exiting orbit, but large debris can be left behind.

It is likely that the remaining fragments of the missile will end up in the great seas. However, the possibility that they will fall on residential areas is not excluded.

According to Holger Krag, director of the European Space Agency's Office of Space Safety Programs, without a blueprint of the object, it is difficult to quantify the amount of debris from the rocket. However, as a rule of thumb, this amount is between 20-40% of the original rocket's mass.

According to Orbit.ing-now.com's real-time monitoring data, the missile is currently traveling at a "crazy" speed of 28,000 km/h (7,777 m/s), taking about 90 minutes to spin. 1 circle around the Earth.

According to Business Insider, the missile's path is "slightly north of New York, Madrid, Beijing and further south of Chile and Wellington, New Zealand." It can fall anywhere in these ranges.

Earlier in May 2020, China's Long March 5B rocket also lost control, flew out of orbit and fell to Earth after 6 days of launch.

This is not the first time Chinese rockets have gone out of orbit. Previously, the country had once launched the Long March 5B in May 2020 to test the original launch of the ship into orbit. The center stage of the rocket also lost control and fell to Earth 6 days after launch. Before falling due to the gravitational pull of the Earth, the rocket's center stage flew over the cities of Los Angeles and New York.
